This was the worst hotel ive ever stayed in. My flight landed at midnight and I was not leaving till the next morning so I thought id get something cheap and close because all I needed was a few hours rest. I got no sleep in this hotel. Travelling as a 25yr old female I was wishing I had some form of a weapon with me, and would not let myself close my eyes for fear of what may happen if I did! The area was terrible, I got harrassed by at least 5 homless people whilst waiting for the security to open the door to let me in. The rooms were horrid. I've seen public toilets better than these rooms. I had a major hole in the blind so all the homeless people walking past my window could see me eye to eye. I was scared and sat on the bed watching them as they walked by till the morning so I could get the hell out of there. I would not reccommend anyone to stay here.

They were the only hotel in the NJ area with availability during the last days of Hurricane Sandy, therefore I went there. The TV system was not bad. Staff was very friendly, especially the security guy.

Felt like I was walking into a prison. Reception had what looked like bullet-proof glass. The rooms looked and felt dirty. I was even reluctant of laying in bed. My first room had a mouse running inside. The room I was moved to after this looked less horrible, but was still a nightmare. The shower/bath drain was blocked and the water from the shower was brown when hitting the bath. A daunting experience.

    Fabulous

price, for a 1 nighter this hotel was perfect. If you want a safe Quiet stay in the city this is a good place for that. If I was staying longer I would want more services,& stay eleswhere, but it was only 1 night, so it was perfect.

    lack of amenities.

    Very good

The transportation like bus route was cross road, which made it easier to commute to stations

The beds in the room were small and looked like used one's being with a small kid 2 yr old was a bit difficult to manage to sleep. The faucets are too tight to open and close sometimes and also the sequence to open and close is different at various locations like in our room its different while the ones in the lobby restroom open and close differently which gives a feeling that some new plumber tried to fix it with his less experience.

    Very good

Courteous and Helpful Staff, Clean room, Very Good Price...Especially Weekly Rate

Liked everything about the Hotel Riveria. Can't beat the price. Did not like being asked constantly for money from the homeless at McDonalds but they were always courteous and I did give a few dollars to some of them.

The hotel is very old and therefore when the radiators are on the pipes make tremendous amounts of noise. We could not sleep.

The location makes it easily accessible. Connection to train station was fast and easy.

Housekeeping is extremely poor. The reception is archaic....needs remodelling. No intercom for communication with hotel staff and visiting guests.Beddings not appealing.

This is not truely a Hotel, it is basically quiet and clean, but not truely a Hotel - I would consider this a half way house the residents speak for the dwelling. Security guard walks you to your room and verifys that it is empty and a Security guard will come to your room if you have not checked out by 11a.m.

There is no housekeeping service, no phone in room, the place is old, dirty, there's rats, bugs and everything cranks here and there it should be called Riviera Motel, it's nowhere close to a hotel I give it 0 stars, not coming back.

    I survived.

Security entrance to the hotel, bullet-proof glass around the front desk, no alarm or phone in the room, very small TV, the blinds in my room had a huge cut-out hole so you could see in from the streets. No shampoo or soap in the shower so had to just soak with water.

    Exceptional

I like that it was close to a market, laundrymat, and public transportation

My room was cold and there was no comforter. (Sheets were too thin)

I would describe riviera as the worst hotel i had stayed in my life. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The description on the internet is very much different as on the real life. I didnt had any choice bcos of storm sandy. The rooms were smelling bad and when i asked they gave me a other room and charged extra for the room. It was also smelt bad but ok than the previous one.

The rooms and facilities. The smell and odour.
